East Jakarta Mayor Harvests Melon in Cilangkap Agro Tourism

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar and Jakarta Deputy Governor for Culture and Tourism Dadang Solihin, today harvested melons type Golden Melon dan Rock Melon at the Cilangkap Agro Tourism.

In a day, we can harvest 1,200 melons. Each fruit weighs between 3 to 3.7 kg

This agro tourism has 19.05 hectares width managed by the Center for Seed Development and Plant Protection Technical Management Unit.

"Its existence could be a place of research for universities as well as educational facilities for students," expressed Solihin, Thursday (10/3).

East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar said it could be developed even better and could also be used to meet the nutritional needs of the community

"I hope this Melon cultivation here in the future can be used to supply the market. Surely the quality must follow the market's taste thus it is sustainable," he expressed.

Center for Seed Development and Plant Protection Technical Management Unit Head Ali Nurdin added, from total land area of 19.05 hectares, Cilangkap Agro Tourism, one hectare of which is utilized for hydroponic plants in which there is melon cultivation.

"In a day, we can harvest 1,200 melons. Each fruit weighs between 3 to 3.7 kg. Melons are harvested every 3-4 months," he said.

All this time, harvests are only sold in the neighborhood or meet requests when a bazaar is held in the Jakarta City Hall. The price is worth Rp 10,000 per kg

Thus far his side has not experienced any obstacles.
